Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

Each track includes a rhythmic verbalization, counting, full percussive orchestration, and a song example for the featured rhythm. The rhythms for this recording were chosen from the vast tradition of Arabic Muwashahaat. The Mawashahaat are poems that date back to the Arab ruled Andalusia Spain, from the 800s A.D. to the late 1400s. These poems were written in complex & intricate meters that accommodated the luscious delivery of the text. The musical compositions were often composed much later in the late 1800s and early 1900s by great Arab composers including Omar al Batch from Syria, and Sayyed Darwish from Egypt. The rhythms extracted from these Muwashahaat poems and songs provide an intense collection of material for the advanced musician and dancer.
