about

On February 6th 2023 there was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that spanned Turkey and Syria. Already 1000's have died, and endless more injured & displaced. My ensemble members and I frequently play Syrian music, and we have Syrian musicians in both Sharq and Huzam. The victims in Syria were already suffering from civil war and refugee crises. We need to help.

This album LIVE FOR SYRIA is a collection of live performances that feature Syrian traditional music and repertoire. I will take 100% of the sales from this specific album and personally donate to Save The Children and their Children's Emergency Fund for the earthquake victims. They have a four star charity rating, operate at only 15% overhead, and have very clear targeted goals. I will pay all the transaction fees.

LIVE for SRYIA uses the word 'live' as a homonym, something employed frequently in the regional lyrical poetry. The music is live, created with expression, in front of an engaged audience. Also we must live, to engage in the life-affirmation of music, to perpetuate the culture & heritage of those whose lives are in danger. Please enjoy this album, knowing your purchase goes towards assisting the lives of those who helped create it.
